Guys, you haven't heard from me for a long time, really! I spent ages presenting demos, sometimes up to 13 per day. But spent my day productively writing an article so totally asked in private correspondence.
The issue of the article is not about mistakes or high-quality tools and databases, but about efficient/inefficient approaches and examples for particular audience. Yes, outreach has not gone away or disappeared at all, and plenty of companies still invest much money to make it work and bring results.
As always, I've done routine work and gathered the best examples of what you really need to use in outreach to sell java developers and return customers.
First of all, I'll start with inefficiencies, and second, my favorite part of any process is when I dig in to watch and do something myself. What are the features of the channels? For instance, the audience 20+ responds well to messages in Linkedin, but if your Buyer Persona is 50+ and the company is 1000+, most of them do not read, or make it with a great strain. Most of the audience got used to consuming content or requests through emails, i.e. email mailing mostly reaches startups and corporate people—it is more universal. And LinkedIn is cool because you can nurture relationships there. Email is good for sending beautiful postcards only.
The newest inefficiencies:
The method "sent request-received confirm-sent pack of follow-ups". Earlier, this second best method worked like a breeze, in most cases it was not even necessary to write any "Notes". Now this version gives an average of 10-15% Connection Request Acceptance conversion, in case that the contact database is cool.

Warm UP
This applies to those who have never warmed up their Linkedin profile. Trite, but you also need to organize your profile. You need at least 2 weeks to deal with the minimum amount of invitations sent.
Tone of Voice
It is how we communicate. You know my tone of communication: judging by the large number of articles—sometimes it's funny, sometimes not much, but this does not mean that I write to my clients in the same spirit. But over the years, I have tried so many sorts of templates that writing to the point has become a habit with me. Not just friendly but super straightforward. A very small number of Americans may like this approach: no bullshiting, but in the main mass everyone wants detailed letters. As for me, I also exercise and slap myself on the wrist. And it is always hard to combine spam-approach vs details only vs normality.
Here is an example of a non-ok approach:
Effective approaches
Now here I will give you a couple of examples of OK-campaigns that support normal flow. There is only one minus—they are long, but if you wanted quick results, you can always spend 10K on Google Adwords)))))
Campaign Structure
The peculiarity of all campaigns now is that you don't need to break in asking questions "do you need?”, but ask them a bit later, on the third touch, approximately. You need to warm up the lead, it obviously bears fruit, but if you don't have time and need to sell the whole bench tomorrow, of course, you need a great deal of patience. Such campaigns cannot give you the right answer immediately, but if you learn how to do it slowly but gradually, they will become mature, and after 2-3 months you will receive hot answers.
The second point is personalization. And it's not just that you mention the position, the name of the company. You can add pictures, GIFs, and even videos to the first messages. There are plenty of products that can already do this, so you may add another 10-20% of efficiency to your cold campaigns.
Do not forget that any generalization or demonstration of your ignorance of the company's specification in the text automatically reduces desire to respond and communicate. Because you don't make any concrete offer, and secondly, you talk like a robot and put it crudely!
Such mistakes should be excluded immediately!
Logics
The ideal campaign doesn't turn everything into spam and has sufficient personalization. This can be achieved by different approaches, for example:
-
Sending the first highly customized invite. That means, you collect data on the LinkedIn profile: what this person visited, discussed, posted—and take information to work.
-
You can also send the same message to the email channel.
-
You can start warming up this profile for 1 month: just drop in every day, look through the profile, and after getting back the visit on your page, send an invite immediately.
-
Next, you can form a chain of follow-ups based on easy going chatting. Avoid instant push for sale.
-
After 3-4 auto messages, you can send an email with a customized letter—here you will have to do research again.
-
And then go to mail sequences in order not to mix activity between channels and finish the campaign by sending 2-3 more templates with reminders.
Here are the examples that you always "copy-send" immediately to the mailing list …LOL… (don't ever do that, these are just examples)

Create kick-off messages yourself. Someone throws himself at one's feet pleading for response, someone writes dry “bye”. There is no clear pattern here, what is better answered, both have the same impact.
To organize such a newsletter, you need up to 1 week of time, taking into account the fact that you have a cleaned database, downloaded through Sales Navigator or Apollo, double-checked and prepared for mailing. Second, you must have a normal Valuer Prop. Third, you should work hard to personalize the intro for everybody.
Watch a bunch of videos on YouTube, how to make a personalized intro using the Linkedin URL with the help of ChatGPT
plugin and Google Sheet. Generally speaking, for the #supersloths who got used to do nothing, here it is:
